Abortions for Rape, Incest and Fetal Deformities are NOT Rare
And no one else’s pregnancy, miscarriage or abortion is any of your damn business
The primary argument we’re hearing from conservatives right now in defense of their disgusting, unconstitutional push to overturn Roe V Wade is that the vast majority of abortions are performed for “convenience,” and not for crimes like rape and incest, or because of health concerns like a danger to the pregnant person or fetal anomalies, some fatal.
Let’s dig into some numbers: In 2017, approximately 862,320 abortions were performed in the US. The rate of girls aged 14 and under who were treated to remove a pregnancy for that year was 0.2 percent. That means that in 2017, 1,724 girls aged 14 or younger in the United States of America received abortion treatment. Not the year 1950, but in 2017.
Does that sound rare to you? Or does that sound like a fucking nightmare? Now just imagine if half the states ban abortion. How many hundreds of little girls might be forced to go through the trauma of pregnancy and childbirth?
What’s even more troubling is a significant percentage of teenage girls who become pregnant are impregnated by a grown-ass man. Thing is, we don’t really know the numbers very well, because no one keeps track of…
