An Open Letter to Girls & Young Women in Conservative Churches
You matter. Your right to your own body matters
Let’s just get this out of the way right up front. I am an atheist liberal woman with purple hair, so you’re maybe not going to be super trusting of me, which I get. You’ve been taught I’m dangerous and hell-bound, and if you let my witchy ideas infect your head, I’ll drag you to hell with me.
Here’s the thing though: I don’t see you as my enemy. At all. And no I’m not saying that because I want to trick you into being my friend and lead you to hell that way. I’m good with the heathen friends I have.
But I do honestly believe your conservative church doesn’t always have your best interests at heart, especially if they’re telling you abortion is a sin.
Please, hear me out.
I am not trying to tell you that you should ever abort any pregnancy you don’t want to. I know your church may have told you feminists are so pro-abortion that we want forced abortions. That is a lie. I don’t want anyone, ever forced through pregnancy and childbirth or forced to abort a pregnancy she wants to keep. If you never, ever, need or want an abortion in your life, that is just fine. If you want to have fifteen babies, have fifteen babies. I one hundred percent support you in that…
