Once again, filthy minded conservatives confuse sexual orientation for sex
Check out the comments section of any news story reporting on the unconstitutional, anti-LGBTQ bill Florida just passed — HB 1557, the so-called “Parental rights in education” bill, which forbids public school teachers from discussing sexual orientation in front of kids aged kindergarten through the third grade — and you’ll find a bunch of hysterical conservatives who claim the bill is to “protect children.”
Horse shit. As usual, the bill is designed to limit free speech and take away others’ constitutional rights, all in the name of appeasing a small-minded, fragile minority.
Let’s be very clear: The vast majority of public elementary school teachers are NOT talking about SEX in front of their classes. They are addressing discussions that naturally come up in a classroom of curious, boisterous children, and some of those kids have two moms or two dads. Those kids have the right to talk about their families. Other kids have the right to be curious and ask questions about those families, and their teachers have the right to give age-appropriate answers without everyone losing their minds.
