When Roe Vs. Wade was overturned, I felt like many people: Sad. Angry. Shocked. Betrayed.

But there was one aspect of it that horrified me more than anything, and that was the knowledge that it would affect hundreds and hundreds of little girls who are raped and impregnated in the United States every single year. With the changes in the law, I knew some of those girls — little girls aged 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 — would end up being forced to give birth.

Of course, it’s happening:

Time has released a heartbreaking story about thirteen-year-old Ashley, who was raped in her own yard, and too traumatized to tell her mom, Regina. But Regina recognized pretty quickly that Ashley wasn’t acting like herself, so like any good mom, she took Ashley to a doctor. Regina was shocked when the doctor told her Ashley was 10 weeks pregnant.
