I’m Quitting Twitter Cold Turkey

Because I want to reclaim my joy

I was never a fan of Twitter until trump was elected president. But I quickly learned Twitter was where breaking news was shared first, and soon I developed a need to know what the lunatic president was doing, minute by minute.

It became an obsession. I checked several times a day, because you just didn’t know what the lunatic president might say or do next.

Would he get us bombed by North Korea? Would he make some crazy concession to Putin? What insane, stupid thing might he say in front of the media today? Or worse, to another world leader?

I pored over Twitter, looking for clues to explain all the madness, hoping to see the news story that would end his presidency — surely he’d be taken out of office for high crimes and misdemeanors. After all, the man is a crook. Always has been. At some point, decency and justice would prevail, right? Right?

Of course, that never happened. More and more I found myself on Twitter arguing with trump supporters. I knew it was bad for me. I knew I was feeding my anger problem and doing my blood pressure no favors whatsoever, but I just could not stop myself from going back.

It was as bad as doing hard drugs — that’s how much I wanted to quit, and that’s also how much it…
