It’s not Fear — it’s Disgust

Keep your Covid germs and idiocy away from me

My husband and I have been pretty much holed up while Omicron swept across the country. Thankfully, we are privileged enough to be able to do that, because the reason I don’t want to go out right now has nothing to do with me feeling fear. I’m vaccinated. I’m not afraid of Covid-19.

What I’m feeling is disgust. I am disgusted with my fellow Americans who have pooh-poohed the pandemic this whole time, and are still fighting against masks and vaccines while they spread their Covid germs willy nilly. I’m disgusted with the people who still support trump and his coup attempt. I’m disgusted with the people who don’t vote. I’m disgusted with climate deniers and the sheer number of people in this country who don’t understand the most basic science facts. I’m fed up with bigots and misogynists. I’m sick of looking at the selfish fools in our town who hold mask protests with their stupid signs and their Gadsden flags. I’m tired of morons who scream at school boards and city commission meetings about masks and Critical Race Theory.

Frankly, I don’t want to share public spaces with these unpleasant people, especially not when infection rates are so high and they don’t give a damn. I honestly wish they’d go ahead and leave and start their own failing country instead of continuing…
