Make Your World As Real As Possible
When everything else seems fake
As many of us are learning, living in the decline of a bloated civilization sucks. Not because we don’t have enough, but because we have too much, and most of it is bullshit. The mental mind fuck of living in a world that loves made-up money more than people or the environment has honestly become psychologically unbearable for many, many folks, especially, I think, Americans, because our society is the most fake of all.
We’ve become a parody of ourselves. McAmerica 2.0 with guns. For many of us, it’s hard to even stomach anymore. Of course, some Americans seem to love living in a modern-day mashup of Disney World and the Old West.
I kind of understand why people are turning to slow food and natural cures — American humans have become starved for anything real. We work pointless jobs to make made-up money to buy bits of plastic and bundles of microchips that we throw out every few weeks so we can buy more crap.
And everything, everything has become a scam. Tack-on charges, processing fees, monthly subscriptions, overdraft fees, insurance for everything, everybody is trying to make a buck off every fake step of the very fake process. It’s exhausting to try to pretend any of this is necessary, let alone real.
