No, I don’t Like Writing About Abortion
But forced-birthers have taken away my choice
If you take a gander at my home page right now, you’ll notice there are a lot of stories there about abortion. This is not because I love writing about abortion. It’s not even because I volunteer for the Kansas Abortion Fund.
I don’t mind writing about abortion. I’m happy to educate people on the facts about abortion in the US, which happens to be highly regulated, despite the bloody fairy tales forced birthers like to tell about the procedure.
But the truth is not many people want to read about abortion. It’s not a subject that’s generally a driver of a lot of reads on Medium or anywhere else for that matter. Why? Because people don’t even want to think about abortion, let alone talk about it or read about it.
I would LOVE to go back to not talking or writing about abortion, but I can’t, because conservatives keep trying to take it away. In fact, if you’d asked me ten years ago if I’d ever volunteer for an abortion fund I’d probably have laughed in your face. I wasn’t ever an activist. Honestly, I thought it was kind of hippy shit. Now, of course, I realize a whole lot of people worked their asses off behind the scenes for years and years in this country to make sure I could enjoy lots of rights I took for granted, and I owe…
