Not sure how you came to that conclusion. The Vatican is full of an obscene collection of valuable art, gold, jewels and priceless old books. The wealth on display there makes it very clear that Catholism's primary concern is hoarding wealth and restricting the rights of women, not helping the poor. The Catholic religion could probably end poverty on the entire planet with the wealth they've collected.
