Oh it’s not rare. I’m in the midwest and that sort of everyday racism is absolutely rampant across the “heartland.” A lot of white kids aren’t taught to be KKK necessarily, but they’re taught they’re better than Black Americans and that Black people in general are untrustworthy, though they may have a few Black friends or relatives themselves. It’s how I was raised and I didn’t understand for years how harmful it is.
