What’s our secret to a long-lasting relationship? The love of geek stuff. What’s yours?

This year marks the 28th year my husband and I have been married, plus the three years we were together before marriage. I attribute two things to our enduring relationship: One, mutual respect. We don’t ever call each other names or curse at each other, even when we’re fighting. (And I curse like a sailor.) Two, we share a basic worldview in that we’re both liberally minded and we have a great respect for science and knowledge.

As such, our text and instant message conversations consist of mostly of gooey emojis and stickers with hearts as well as super nerdy shit we both love. A couple of nights ago while browsing the internets, I came across the above image of the planet Mercury. Knowing my husband would appreciate it, I forwarded it to him.

The next morning, while we were sitting together on the couch watching television, my husband sent me this story:
