The right generated the controversy out of nothing.

JK Rowling’s statements about trans women are ridiculous. They’re inflammatory, paranoid and without any basis in reality.

Young people in particular are not going to let the older generations get away with bigotry anymore. There will be pushback. Rowling could have kept her mouth shut about a teeny demographic and the world would have gone on just fine.

As far as shutting down talks on college campuses—they’re college campuses. That’s what college is like. None of the bigots chased off campuses have been prevented from exercising free speech. They know when they book a talk on a college campus they’re going to get thrown off and it generates free publicity for *them.* They love it.

There is no reason to punish, ostracize and terrorize a teeny portion of the population just wanting to exercise freedom. They’re not taking rights from women or anyone else. Ridiculous.
